Mascara Tips, Tricks & Favourites

Finding that one perfect mascara is a hard task. Different people have different preferences in what a mascara should be and different lashes have different needs. This is also why it gets so frustrating sometimes finding the one; there are so many different ones to cover all of these needs and preferences! In my case for instance I have long, straight and kind of thick eyelashes so anyone would imagine that I have the easiest eyelashes when it comes to finding the perfect one. In fact, this is far from the truth, simply because I need a mascara that has just 2 things. Gives separation and is VERY BLACK. Sometimes I may even go for a curl but this can also be fixed with an eyelash curler.

There is no right or wrong way to how you apply your mascara. It really depends on what brush movement your lashes need in order for them to be separated. One trick I have definitely found works, is when you emphasize your mascara and spend most time on the base of your eyelashes. This is really where all the magic happens and what will make the most difference. Also, keep in mind, that the brush really is what makes the most difference. Thinner brushes are best for length and thicker, bushier brushes are best for volume. Keep in mind though that this is just a general rule. I have found the thinnest of brushes (some of them) to give great separation and volume. What is most important here is that you try different ones and just get the one that makes you go wow when you look in the mirror.

You can have a look at my personal faves and their brushes below:

  • Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Excess
  • Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes
  • Bobbi Brown Smoky Eyes

The Giorgrio Armani mascara was my first ever favourite and the first I ever used until there was nothing left in there. Really great for separating the lashes and giving volume. It has great packaging, very sleek and very luxe looking. It gives you that wow effect on your lashes and makes your eyes look really sexy. The Bobbi Brown mascara is the one that you can use for a very subtle, simple lash look, all the way up to a very glamorous lash. It offers again separation and volume and it is the best friend of your smoky eyes. The Charlotte Tilbury mascara is the one that combines the previous two in one. It makes your eyes look sexy, glamorous, it is buildable and it definitely gives that wow effect. It is thick and bushy and the brush is laser-cut to make sure you always get that perfect result. If I could only use one mascara for the rest of my life it would definitely be this one.
